Staying Connected

May 5, 2020

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We miss you very much. Not being able to celebrate Mass with you is as difficult for us as it is for you. However, our calls to parishioners are very gratifying and your responses to us are heartwarming. We all want to stay connected and that seems to be what is happening with our Out-Reach Program. Thanks to those of you who are helping in that Ministry.

Even though we are not able to worship together nor work in the service of the Lord together, we are still trying to be as active as we can amid this Covid-19 pandemic. Through the use of electronic media we are able to pray, worship and stay connected with each other, with our Parish and with our Archdiocese. Our parish website is constantly updated so please visit us at saintja.ca where you can find information to help you stay in touch. That is where you can find links to our various celebrations including our recorded Masses.

Although we are taking steps to reduce the expenses and avail ourselves of Government subsidies our Churches still need your financial support. Reduced giving during the closing of our Churches is resulting in a shortfall. Perhaps you are unsure of how to contribute. You can contribute in any of the following ways:

  • Complete the Pre-Authorized Debit form (attached and at Bridgewater or Liverpool office);
  • Use the Give link on the Parish website; or
  • Drop off envelopes in the secure mail slots at your Church or Glebe (St Gregory’s may be dropped off to Fr Charles until a secure mail slot is installed).

Please contact our office should you need additional help. By the grace of God, we ask that you help us continue to support our Church and those in need (primarily through local foodbanks) to whatever level you are able during these difficult times. We will continue to keep you informed through newsletters like this and our weekly bulletin.

Please pray for ourselves, our parish and our communities. Especially too, central Nova Scotia where the mass shootings took place.

Yours in Christ,
Father Jim O’Connor, Pastor
Father Charles Offor, Associate Pastor
